3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off Crowns New Champions

A spicy aroma filled the air at David Place on February 24, as residents and staff prepared for the 3rd Annual Chili Cook-Off. Groups of two staff members and two residents teamed up to vie for the title of Chili Champion. Some of the more unusual team names included the Red Hot Chili Pepper Gals and Nancy Crocker’s Blue Ribbon Chili. As always, secret ingredients may have made the difference, including one team that used wine in their chili. After all the tasting came the difficult task of voting for the best chili. Awards were presented to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams, and the winning teams posed for pictures with their prizes, which included a can of beans and cooking spoon. Bragging rights went to Nancy Genovesi, Bernice Laska, Amy Betzen, and Richelle Price. Coming in 2nd were Helen Jochim, Lucille Poole, Deb Andel, and Wendy Ingwersen. 3rd place honors went to Ashley Kreikemeier, Dani Romshek, Karen Kucera, and Lila Brandenburgh.
